These hardworking people keep our campers safe and happy during the week. They help everyone behave and get the most out of their week by maintaining dormitory groups full of good communication and support.
Laura Meadows – girls’ counselor
Laura is a student at Seneca College. She has been a camper at St. Mike’s since 2011, becoming both a counselor as well as music teacher in 2015. Additionally, she coordinates drama games occasionally throughout the week. To her, St. Michael’s Youth Conference provides a peaceful week in the middle of the summer where she can devote herself not only to worship, but to forming long-lasting friendships with both the staff and campers.
Elizabeth “Biff” Aaltonen – girls’ counselor
Elizabeth (better known throughout the camp as “Biff”) has been attending St. Michael’s Youth Conference since 2011. After studying at Brock University for two years, Biff transferred to Centennial College in pursuit of a career in the medical field. Outside of school, Biff enjoys the sport of fencing and competes across the province when time allows it. To Biff, St. Michael’s Youth Conference is a home away from home where lasting friendships are made and our faith in God and the Anglican Church is strengthened. Every summer, Biff looks forward to spending a week away from the stresses of the city and enjoying time with her St. Michael’s family.
Andrewes Sissons – boys’ counselor
Andrewes has been attending St. Michael’s since 2009, as a camper until 2013 and then as a counselor from 2014 on. He graduated from Seneca college in General Arts and is currently working full time in data entry. On most Sundays he participates as a server at his home church of St. Olave’s, Toronto. Outside of work and church he dedicates some of his free time to playing guitar and bass guitar in two bands. To Andrewes, St. Michael’s provides an escape from the busy city, the time to focus on his faith within the Anglican Church, and a place to reunite with good friends.
